Boston couple’s dog eats passport days before wedding in Italy

“My dog ate my passport” probably won’t fly at customs.

An engaged Boston couple’s wedding ceremony is in jeopardy after their dog chewed up the man’s passport — less than two weeks before they are due to be married in Italy.

Donato Frattaroli, of South Boston, told WCVB that he and his fiance had gone to city hall to fill out their marriage forms on Thursday, just days ahead of their scheduled Aug. 31 ceremony.

When they returned to their home hours later, they found their mischievous year-and-a-half-old golden retriever, Chickie, had eaten through multiple pages of Frattoroli’s passport.

The couple is now scrambling to get a replacement and asking local officials for help.

When they returned to their home hours later, they found their mischievous year-and-a-half-old golden retriever, Chickie, had eaten through multiple pages of Frattoroli’s passport.

“I’m just a little stressed,” Frattaroli told the outlet. “Luckily, Congressman (Stephen) Lynch’s office and Sen. (Ed) Markey’s office have been super responsive. They’ve been in touch, at least with me and the State Department, to try to expedite things and get a new passport. Keep my fingers crossed and, hopefully, everything will work itself out.”

The pair are scheduled to fly to Italy this Friday.

The groom-to-be said if he can’t secure a passport before the flight, he’ll stay at home while his fiance and their wedding guests go to Italy without him.

If he still can’t get a passport in time for the wedding, he said he’ll just meet the wedding party when they return to the US.

“We were getting decent looks, but we just weren’t making them,” Porzingis said. “And when you’re not making them, not that our energy was lacking, but it’s just not the same hype. And honestly, they were taking and making some tough shots, and they were also making the open ones.”

The Celtics also saw their worst shooting percentage (39.2 percent) from the field in a game this season, connecting on 38-of-97 attempts.

Meanwhile, Chicago is coming off one of their best defensive performances thus far. They had 56 rebounds and forward Zach LaVine led the offense with a season-high 36 points.

“They played physical,” Jaylen Brown said. “They hit shots. They guarded well. If a team’s hitting shots and guarding well, anything can happen on any given night.”
