Major Case Squad investigating deadly overnight shooting in Cape Girardeau


CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – One person is dead following a shooting overnight in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

According to the Cape Girardeau Police Department, officers received a report of a person who arrived at a local hospital with a life-threatening gunshot wound on Sunday, July 14 at around 12:34 a.m.

Officers quickly began the investigation and learned the incident happened in the 400 block of Broadway Street.

Then, just after 1 a.m., officers were notified the victim had died from his wounds.

Police say no arrests have been made at this time.

The Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad has been activated to investigate this incident.

Orchid Show gets ready to kick off at the Missouri Botanical Garden


ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – With the winter weather and arctic cold sticking around the Metro, the Missouri Botanical Garden’s annual Orchid Show gives us a look toward spring.

The event kicks off on Saturday, Jan. 31.

The visitor’s center there is now full of colorful orchids, of all sizes and colors. While some have different aromas, others have no smell at all.

In total, there are nearly 500 orchids on display. The garden will constantly rotate its collection throughout the event.

The show runs through March 1 and is included in garden admission.
