Jarvis elevated to Head Basketball Coach at NAIA Missouri Baptist – HoopDirt

Missouri Baptist University Director of Athletics Jeff Fore announced Taylor Jarvis as the 15th head men’s basketball coach in program history on Monday afternoon. The promotion comes after Preston Ingram was announced as the head men’s basketball coach at NCAA Division II school Maryville University.

Ingram departs for Maryville after five seasons at Missouri Baptist. In his time leading the Spartans, the team tallied a 94-52 overall record, an American Midwest Conference Tournament title, two AMC Championship game appearances, and a trip to the NAIA National Tournament in 2021-22. He additionally won the 2022 AMC Coach of the Year award and coached a pair of All-Americans.

“We are very grateful for all that Coach Ingram has done for the men’s basketball program here at Missouri Baptist and wish him all the best as he moves on to Maryville University,” said Fore.

Jarvis has been working in the MBU basketball program since the 2020-21 season, beginning as an assistant coach leading local recruiting efforts and serving as the head junior varsity coach before being promoted to the lead assistant coach after his first season. Since his promotion to lead assistant, the Spartans have posted a 64-29 overall record including an AMC Championship in 2021-22.

“When we stepped back and looked at who we wanted in our next leader in the men’s basketball program it became very evident early on that this individual was already in our program,” said Fore. “Coach Jarvis not only helped recruit our current roster but was also the key individual in recruiting our incoming class.  While this will be his first head coaching job, I can tell you that after several conversations with him, I know he is ready.”

Outside of his time at MBU, Jarvis has been a key figure for the Larry Hughes Basketball Academy, serving as the Head of Skill Development and Performance. Along with Hughes, himself, Jarvis developed Basketball Training Systems (BTS) utilized by several other academies including Chris Paul’s CP3 Academy, the Bobby Jackson Academy, and the Mamba Academy.

A Eureka, Mo., native, Jarvis graduated from Lindenwood University with a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science and from Missouri Baptist University with a Master’s in Sport Management.
