Man on the lam charged in fatal south Minneapolis shooting
MINNEAPOLIS — A 31-year-old Twin Cities man who stays on the lam is now charged in a deadly taking pictures earlier this week in south Minneapolis.
Jashon Johnson, of Edina, is charged through warrant with second-degree homicide in connection to the Monday killing on Stevens Avenue South, courtroom paperwork filed in Hennepin County present. His girlfriend, Australia Washington, can also be charged within the taking pictures loss of life of 31-year-old Marcus Saunders.
In keeping with a felony criticism, Johnson gunned down Saunders shortly after 1 p.m. as Saunders’ two younger kids waited for him close by. The mom of Saunders’ kids was with him, and advised police the taking pictures occurred following an argument.
The girl advised investigators that her and Saunders went to the Whittier neighborhood to see Washington, the lady’s cousin, who owed Saunders cash. When Washington got here out to satisfy Saunders and her cousin, she was joined by Johnson, her boyfriend.
The argument over cash rapidly escalated, with Washington and Johnson pointing weapons at each Saunders and his accomplice. When Saunders snatched one of many weapons from Washington’s palms, Johnson shot him. Johnson continued to shoot whereas Saunders was mendacity on the bottom.
An post-mortem discovered that Saunders suffered gunshot wounds to his neck, chest and proper leg, the criticism states. When the taking pictures occurred, Saunders’ kids, ages 5 and three months outdated, have been ready in his automotive, which was parked close by.

Investigators say the gun concerned in Saunders’ loss of life was tied to a home incident involving Johnson and Washington. In keeping with prosecutors, in July of 2021, Johnson fired a number of pictures at Washington and her car.
If convicted of the homicide cost, Johnson faces as much as 40 years in jail. He additionally faces as much as 15 years behind bars for a gun possession cost, as Johnson was convicted of a felony drug cost in 2015.

A Minneapolis squad car involved in crash, both officers expected to be ok
MINNEAPOLIS — Two Minneapolis Police Officers were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after their squad car was involved in a crash with another vehicle.
The accident happened just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday night near Chicago Avenue and 9th Street South.
Police say the two officers were driving with their lights and siren activated when the collied with another car — a security vehicle.
The driver and lone occupant of the security vehicle was not injured.
Minneapolis Traffic Investigations responded to the scene. Minneapolis police will investigate the accident.

Minneapolis shooting critically injures man
MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) – Police say a man was struck by a vehicle and then shot when he tried to run away from a Minneapolis bus stop.
What we know
Officers responded to a reported shooting near the intersection of Lowry Avenue North and Fremont Avenue North around 12:15 a.m. Saturday.
Investigators believe a man at a bus stop was in “an altercation” with multiple people in a vehicle.
The driver then struck the man with the vehicle as the man tried to run away, police say.
Someone in the vehicle then allegedly shot the man before the driver left the area with the vehicle.
Law enforcement described the victim’s injuries as “potentially life-threatening.”
What we don’t know
Police have not released details on any suspect descriptions or the vehicle involved.
