Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo Drops LeBron James-Level Prediction For Victor Wembanyama
LeBron James has been the face of the league ever since he was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003. But if the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo is to be believed, the San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama is about to get his turn soon.
In the span of 49 games, Wembanyama has truly shined above every other rookie this season. The 7’4″ Spurs star has posted 20.5 points on 46 percent shooting from the field, 10.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.1 steals, and a league-leading 3.2 blocks per contest.
While those numbers look good on paper, Wembanyama’s showdown with Antetokounmpo last January was one for the ages. In that game, the Spurs star notched 27 points, nine rebounds, one assist, one steal, and five blocks. Ultimately, Antetokounmpo had the better performance by posting 44 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and one block in a close 125-121 win for the Bucks.
His talent on both ends of the court has been the only bright spot for San Antonio this season. The Spurs are currently last in the Western Conference with an 11-44 record.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokoumpo Reveals LeBron James-Worthy Prediction for Victor Wembanyama
Much like James, Wembanyama is seen as a potential star who can carry the NBA for years to come. Antetokounmpo shares that perspective, according to an article by the San Antonio Express News:
“As long as Victor is healthy, the league is his,” the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo said of the Spurs rookie star. “LeBron is kind of like that,” Antetokounmpo added. “He’s close to the end of his career. … But we have to deal with this problem now moving forward.”
It’s only natural for Antetokounmpo to come up with that opinion after the Bucks’ jaw-dropping battle against San Antonio last January. In any case, NBA fans will have to keep their eyes open for Wembanyama’s career as the years go by.
