Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard Reveals Intriguing Plan To Chase 3-Point Contest 3-Peat
Just recently, Damian Lillard showed off his prowess from downtown by winning the 3-Point Contest. After being named as the winner, the Milwaukee Bucks star revealed an intriguing plan to extend his winning streak to three next year.
Last year, Lillard bested the Indiana Pacers duo of Tyrese Haliburton and Buddy Hield in a three-man final found. During that contest, Dame Time made good use of two shots from the Starry range to get the lead over the two stars in the end.
In this year’s 3-Point Contest, Lillard once again stood tall by winning over Karl-Anthony Towns and Trae Young in the final round. Once again, the Bucks star used the Starry shot to its full effect in the dying seconds of the contest to clinch the win.
Other contestants included Jalen Brunson, Tyrese Haliburton, Lauri Markkanen, Donovan Mitchell, Lillard’s Milwaukee teammate, Malik Beasley. But even after winning the 3-Point Contest, it seems Lillard isn’t one to rest on his laurels.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard Shares Possibility of Chasing 3-Point Contest 3-Peat
Speaking before reporters, Lillard revealed an intriguing plan for next year’s All-Star 3 Point Contest. In a tweet by Chris Haynes on X:
“Damian Lillard tells @NBAonTNT, @BleacherReport that after winning back-to-back 3-Point Contest championships, he’s open to going for a three-peat since All-Star Weekend is in his hometown of The Bay Area next year,” Haynes posted.
Lillard’s feat of winning back-to-back 3-Point Contests was last done by Jason Kapono in 2007 and 2008. Among those who have done the same accomplishment are Craig Hodges, Larry Bird, Peja Stojakovic, and Mark Price.
Of these players, only Bird and Hodges have the contest three times in a row. If Lillard wins another one next year, he is going to be counted among this list of elite NBA shooters, a feat not even Stephen Curry can claim.
