Suspect in custody after semi-truck chase and manhunt in Summit County

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) – A man was taken into custody following a pursuit and search in Summit County Thursday evening, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

He was found in a wooded area unconscious at the bottom of a ravine in the 2300 block of Boston Mills Road in Brecksville around 6:45 pm.

The suspect was in possession of a firearm.

The man was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

OSHP said just before 3:00 p.m., troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Medina Post responded to I-271 North near I-71 for a reported truck driver who allegedly brandished a firearm toward a vehicle repair worker in Granger Township in Medina County.

Troopers found the truck parked on the shoulder of the northbound lanes of I-271 but he disconnected the cab from the trailer and fled the scene northbound.

OSHP attempted to pull the vehicle over but failed and a pursuit started on I-271 near state Route 94 in Medina County.

The pursuit continued into Summit County where stop sticks were deployed by Richfield Township Police.

Police said the truck cab hit a police cruiser before it went off the left side of the highway and struck a guardrail near state Route 303.

Motorist Monique Hornsby of Geauga County was driving just behind the State Highway Patrol and says she was shocked by the actions of the truck driver, “It’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen. I’ve never seen a truck drive like that. I was watching this truck go side to side, all over the road, and then hit a Sheriff’s vehicle.”

The suspect then exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area with a firearm.

A young woman named Andrea from Richfield, who asked that we not use her last name, tells 19 News she had just arrived home from work when police knocked on her door, “They asked if I heard any gunshots, but I did not. Then, they asked me to close all my doors and lock up and get in a secure location, because there was an armed man in the woods behind my house. I closed all the doors and started crying,”

Andrea says she was locked up tight in her home for over two hours, as the State Patrol, SWAT officers and patrol officers from various agencies searched the wooded area near her home.

The young woman’s mother Ida Rykalla tells 19 News, “They just kept swarming the woods and saying he was back there somewhere. We were just thankful that they caught him, found him.”

The incident remains under investigation and charges are pending.

LeBron James Reminisces About Vince Carter’s Top Moments With the Raptors

LeBron James remembers it all.

It took the Los Angeles Lakers superstar a moment to get going but then the memories of Vince Carter began to flood in.

“The 50-point game versus the Sixers in the postseason,” James said as he began to list all his memories from Carter’s tenure with the Toronto Raptors. “The rookie windmill, two-handed windmill versus Indiana on Chris Mullins, went around Chris Mullins when Rik Smits trapped the box. The lob in the preseason down at University of North Carolina, we got that windmill. There’s just too many to name, obviously. Obviously the dunk contest, when he shut down the dunk contest, and gave you the ‘it’s over signal.’”

James and the Lakers are spending an extra night in Toronto to honor Carter as the Raptors retire his No. 15 into the rafters at Scotiabank Arena. It was a decision made in part by Lakers coach JJ Redick who briefly played alongside Carter during their time together on the Orlando Magic.

“Just happy for him and everything that is coming has come his way over the last 12 months,” Redick said of Carter who was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame last month. “I think anybody who came of age in the late 90s, early 2000s, they look back on that version of Vince with a high level of fondness. And I was a fan, despite the fact that he went to UNC.”

James shared his praise for Carter too.

“Congratulations to Vinsanity,” James said following Los Angeles’ victory over Toronto on Friday. “It makes all the sense in the world. (What) he’s done for this franchise, the impact he had in his community, the way he changed how basketball has looked at in Canada itself, obviously Toronto. It’s well deserved.”

The Raptors will begin festivities at halftime Saturday against DeMar DeRozan and the Sacramento Kings.

On October 30, All Elite Wrestling taped AEW Rampage at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio for November 1. These matches will air on tonight’s episode.

The spoilers, courtesy of F4WOnline, are as follows:

AEW Rampage for November 1:

  • LFI (Rush, Dralistico & The Beast Mortos) defeated The Butcher, JD Drake & Beef
  • Taya Valkyrie (w/ Deonna Purrazzo) defeated Zoey Lynn. Later, Stokely Hathaway interrupted Valkyrie’s backstage interview with Renee Paquette and said Lynn was badmouthing The Vendetta (Purrazzo and Valkyrie), so she came back out and beat on Lynn again.
  • Queen Aminata defeated Leila Grey
  • Top Flight (Darius and Dante Martin) & Action Andretti defeated Dark Order (Evil Uno, Alex Reynolds & John Silver). During the match, Dante tried to stop Andretti from removing the bandages from Reynolds’ ribs. Andretti finally did it, hit a split-legged moonsault, and Andretti pinned Reynolds. Both Top Flight and Dark Order weren’t happy, but everyone shook hands afterward.
  • Komander defeated Lio Rush. Afterward, Top Flight and Andretti came out to the aisle and confronted Rush. Andretti handed him Reynolds’ bandage from earlier and said, “Do whatever you gotta do.”
