Crews attempted an interior attack and were unsuccessful.

The fire had vented and started to rapidly grow, eventually bringing the roof down a short time later.

“This fire took a bit to get under control and overhaul was tedious,” a social media posting stated.  “Crews were able to keep the fire to the 3rd floor and up. ”

There were no injuries to firefighters or residents.

Firefighters were assisted by the Nevada Police Department, Vernon County Ambulance District and Fire Departments from Deerfield, Milo and Walker.

The State Fire Marshall’s office will assist in determining a cause for the fire.
