It was the deadliest assault on a home of worship in Canada’s historical past. Six folks misplaced their lives when a gunman opened hearth on a mosque in Quebec Metropolis in 2017. And the hate incidents haven’t stopped within the years since. A few of them have been lethal. And it’s led to questions on how Canada treats its Muslim inhabitants. In January of 2023, the nation introduced its first particular consultant on Islamophobia. So what’s behind the necessity for the place within the first place?
