GOP Posts Fake George Washington Quote On Twitter, Nabbed By Media Fact Checker

It was rapidly shot down by a CNN reporter.

The GOP tweeted on Friday: “Let freedom be free.” It added a quote allegedly from Washington saying: “It will likely be discovered an unjust and unwise jealousy to deprive a person of his pure liberty upon the supposition he might abuse it.”

However CNN reporter Andrew Kaczynski fired again that Washington had nothing to do with the quote, in keeping with the George Washington Mount Vernon Property. It lists the phrase within the GOP tweet underneath “spurious quotations.”
