Avery Bradley joining Utah Jazz front office

Former NBA player Avery Bradley is joining the Utah Jazz front office as vice president of player development, according to team sources.

Since mid-December Bradley has been seen on the sidelines prior to Jazz games and has been hanging around the team in an unofficial role.

More recently, Bradley has been even more visible with the team, as he’s traveled to away games and been seen giving advice to some of the younger guys.

Back in December, Jazz head coach Will Hardy said that Bradley was trying to get a sense of what life was like on the non-player side of the NBA.

“Avery Bradley is somebody that I’ve developed a relationship with, and he obviously played for Danny (Ainge). He’s somebody that wanted to come spend some time and see what we’ve got going on,” Hardy said. “It’s good to have him in the gym hanging out with the guys and hanging out with the coaching staff. He’s auditing this class. … He’s auditing this side of the world, not being a player.”

Bradley, who played in the league for 12 years, was drafted 19th overall in 2010 by the Boston Celtics and played there for seven years, so he has a longstanding relationship with Danny Ainge.

Bradley was on the NBA’s All-Defensive second team in 2013 and All-Defensive first team in 2016.

Bradley has only recently begun diving into his role with the Jazz in an official capacity and is helping the team as they prepare for the 2024 NBA draft.

BOTTOM LINE: Utah aims to end its four-game home losing streak with a win over Denver.

The Jazz are 1-13 in division play. Utah allows the most points in the Western Conference, giving up 125.4 points and is allowing opponents to shoot 49.2%.

The Nuggets are 8-5 against the rest of their division. Denver is fifth in the league with 28.8 assists per game led by Nikola Jokic averaging 10.8.

The Jazz are shooting 46.6% from the field this season, 0.3 percentage points lower than the 46.9% the Nuggets allow to opponents. The Nuggets average 14.1 made 3-pointers per game this season, 1.2 fewer made shots on average than the 15.3 per game the Jazz give up.

The teams square off for the fourth time this season. The Nuggets won the last matchup 135-129 on March 28. Jokic scored 33 points to help lead the Nuggets to the win.

TOP PERFORMERS: Kyle Filipowski is shooting 49.5% and averaging 11.1 points for the Jazz. Ace Bailey is averaging 3.1 made 3-pointers over the last 10 games.

Jokic is averaging 27.9 points, 12.9 rebounds and 10.8 assists for the Nuggets. Jamal Murray is averaging 3.1 made 3-pointers over the last 10 games.

9-year-old killed after ATV rollover in Utah County – KSLNewsRadio

SALT LAKE CITY — A 9-year-old boy was killed after the ATV he was riding with his stepfather on Sunday rolled on West Mountain in Utah County.

According to Sgt Ray Ormond with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, the boy was wearing protective equipment but still suffered fatal injuries.

The boy was flown to Primary Children’s hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Rockslide caught on camera during Southern Utah wedding

IVINS, Utah (KUTV) — A Hurricane man captured an apparent rockslide on camera during a wedding ceremony in Ivins.

According to Shane Schieve, who took the video, it happened just after 6 p.m. Saturday up the road from the Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins while the couple was exchanging vows.

“It just sounded like thunder, and we looked up thinking maybe a low-flying jet, then saw the dust and rocks falling down the mountain,” Schieve said. “I hope this isn’t a sign of a rocky marriage! Or maybe their love can move mountains!”

Santa Clara-Ivins Public Safety said it did not receive any reports of a rockslide but did notice a large plume of dust on Red Mountain.
