Seattle weather: Turning wet and cool the rest of this week
Seattle – Thursday through the weekend will be much cooler and wetter as a series of weather systems hit Western Washington.
A weak front will push inland Wednesday bringing showers at times, especially in the afternoon. Temperatures will fall about 10 to 15 degrees from Tuesday’s highs.
A more organized system will hit Thursday, sending widespread rain across Western Washington. Thursday has a good chance of being wet from start to finish with showers lingering into Friday morning.
The Puget Sound area could see a half inch to an inch of rain Thursday, which is much needed. Seattle has less than a half inch of rain in the bucket for April so far. The average for the entire month is 3.18 inches.
On top of the rain, snow levels will also be dropping to around 4,000 to 5,000 feet over the coming days. The higher mountain passes could see a few inches of snow.
Overall, this is going to be a cool and showery week with daytime highs struggling to get out of the 50s.

Escaped zebra captured near Seattle after gallivanting around Cascade mountain foothills for days – East Idaho News
SEATTLE (AP) â A zebra that has been hoofing through the foothills of western Washington for days was recaptured Friday evening, nearly a week after she escaped with three other zebras from a trailer near Seattle.
Local residents and animal control officers corralled the zebra named âShugâ in the community of Riverbend, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) east of Seattle, the Regional Animal Services of King County wrote on its website.
âThe zebra seemed to be in good condition despite her nearly week-long adventure in the woods,â the agency wrote.
Shug was one of four zebras that escaped as they were being transported from Washington to Montana last Sunday. The driver had taken the Interstate 90 exit for North Bend, in the Cascade mountain foothills about 30 miles (48 kilometers) east of Seattle, to secure the trailer, when the animals got loose â surprising residents and drivers as they galloped into a rural neighborhood.
Three were quickly captured after being corralled in a pasture. But the fourth â a mare who was initially dubbed âZâ â hopped a fence and disappeared. Shugâs adventure quickly captured public attention, spawning social media memes that placed the animal everywhere from riding a ferry across Puget Sound to rounding the bases at T-Mobile Park, home of the Seattle Mariners.
But there were more credible sightings elsewhere: Some area residents spotted Shug on their trail cameras, and that sparked some concerns since the cameras also recently captured cougars in the area.
Earlier Friday, King County officials closed off trail access points along the Snoqualmie Valley Trail in the Boxley Creek Natural Area, where the zebra seemed to be frequenting. People trying to see the zebra there may have been spooking it, making it harder to recapture, they said. Feeding zones were set up to help coax the animal out for a rescue.
Owner Kristine Keltgen previously told The Seattle Times she bought the zebras in Lewis County, Washington, and was bringing them to a petting zoo she runs near Anaconda, in southwestern Montana. She had been on the road for about two hours when she noticed one of the trailerâs floor mats was flapping and dragging behind her. When she opened the door to adjust the mat, the zebras ran out. Several people stopped to help corral the animals, including a rodeo clown and horse trainers, but Shug had managed to elude those attempts.
Shug will now be transported to Montana to join the rest of the dazzle, or group, of zebras, Regional Animal Services of King County said.

Womanâs tackle football team Oregon Ravens squares off with Seattle
MILWAUKIE Ore. (KPTV) – One week after selling out the season opener at Milwaukie High School, the Oregon Ravens were out to do it again on Saturday night against Seattle.
The Oregon Ravens are one of 16 teams in the Womenâs National Football Conference, the WNFC.
Ashlie McDonald said, âGood people bring good people and itâs been that way for us since day one.â
Career work and passion during the week, weekend warriors in helmets and pads.
âItâs awfully cathartic to legally be able to smash the heck out of somebody and not go to jail or even get a flag!â Sarah Cabot said. âThere definitely are always some cops, that tends to be, and military or ex-military but there are also a lot of teachers. We probably have four or five teachers, weâve got a couple of doctors, a doctoral candidate and an actual doctor. Itâs really the whole gamut and we range in age from 18 to 48.â
The Ravens set a league attendance record of more than 1,000 ticketed patrons a week ago, who wished to watch it live and in the flesh.
âThe significance is felt nationwide,â McDonald said. âI think all of the teams realize that rising tides raise all ships.â
This tackle football rivalry night against Seattle arrived with greater meaning.
Kola Shippentower said, âBeing an indigenous person, Iâm a natural born athlete, which means Iâm a natural born warrior, so I like to fight, I like to compete. Put me on a stage, Iâll show up and show out.â
Week five honored missing and murdered indigenous people.
âSpecial night, very special. I hold it close to my heart,â Shippentower said. âMy brother was killed back in 2017 so everything I do is to show up for him and continue our sober journeys that we started together and show people that weâre still out here.â
The Ravens plan to build the nest as the seasons go on that upward trajectory of opportunity and community.
âWe are playing a game to show each other that we care about each other,â McDonald said. âWeâre playing a game to show each other that we are here, and we belong here.â
The Ravens have one more regular season home game left and itâs next Saturday for their Motherâs Day celebration. Bring mom to the show out on the turf of Milwaukie High.

Gilbert dazzles, Seattle Mariners shut down Astros 5-0
HOUSTON (AP) â Logan Gilbert threw eight dominant innings, Luis UrĂas and Cal Raleigh homered and the Seattle Mariners beat the Houston Astros 5-0 on Saturday night.
Seattle Mariners 5, Houston Astros 0: Box Score
Gilbert (3-0) allowed two hits and four walks and struck out six. He has allowed two runs or fewer in six of his seven starts.
âItâs nice and helps me catch my breath,â Gilbert said about the run support. âIt gives me a lot of confidence to fill it up. It gives me freedom to do what I want to do and trying to just keep the momentum that they already built.â
The right-hander retired 16 of 17 at one point. He was also aided by three double plays.
âHe was super aggressive,â Seattle manager Scott Servais said. âHe was in the strike zone. Thatâs a good fastball hitting team, and you know youâre going to have to mix in your secondary pitches, but you got to get them over the plate. You got to land them. I thought his slider, curveball, splitter at times tonight. Just outstanding command of those pitches in the zone when they need to be and out of the zone to get some chase.
Servais said it âwas probably the most complete game weâve played all year.â
âWhat Logan did was fantastic,â Servais said. âLogan is on a roll. Itâs as good as weâve seen him at any point. He continues to make adjustments throughout the course of the game. He and Cal did a great job against that lineup tonight.
UrĂas hit a solo home run to center to lead off the fifth, and Raleigh added a two-run shot to left center in the sixth. Mitch Garver had an RBI double in the fourth, and Ty France scored on Raleighâs double-play groundout in the second.

Astros starter Framber Valdez (1-1) allowed five runs on nine hits with three strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. He had allowed three runs or fewer in each of his previous three starts.
âI thought he threw the ball well,â Houston manager Joe Espada said. âHe got some ground balls. His stuff looked really good. I think he made his pitches when he needed to. I think the story was we couldnât get much going offensively.â
Yordan Alvarez had two infield singles, and Jeremy Peña singled for Houstonâs only hits.
TRAINERâS ROOM
Astros: RHP Cristian Javier (neck discomfort) allowed three runs on three hits with three strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings Saturday, throwing 68 pitches in a rehabilitation start with Double-A Corpus Christi. ⊠RHP Lance McCullers (right elbow surgery) threw off the top of the mound Saturday, manager Joe Espada said. ⊠RHP JosĂ© Urquidy (right forearm strain) is scheduled to throw a live batting practice session Sunday. ⊠OF Chas McCormick (right hamstring) ran Saturday, Espada said, adding that hopefully he will run more Sunday before taking batting practice and heading out on a rehab assignment âsoon.â
