Oregon baseball shut out by UC San Diego

Oregon baseball mustered only one hit in its sixth straight loss.

The Geese struck out 10 instances in a 3-0 loss to UC San Diego Tuesday afternoon at PK Park.

Solely No. 9 hitter Gavin Grant managed a single for Oregon (28-20).

An RBI single within the fourth put UC San Diego (22-24) on the board. The Tritons added an RBI single by Jalen Smith within the fifth and a solo house run by Blake FitzGerald within the eighth.

Christian Ciuffetelli allowed successful and stroll and struck out three over 2.1 innings and Logan Mercado (5-2) took the loss regardless of permitting solely an unearned run on one hit with three strikeouts over 1.2 innings. RJ Gordon and Isaac Ayon every allowed a run in 2.0 innings and Stone Churby pitched a scoreless ninth for UO.

Noah Conlon (4-7) struck out 5 and allowed Oregon’s lone hit in 3.2 innings for UCSD.

The groups play once more at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
