Snap Count Takeaways: Biggest notes from Oregon’s usage report vs. Hawaii

There were a lot of players on the usage report — and some not on the usage report — that surprised me. Here are a few guys who did not get as many snaps as I was expecting them to have:

  • LB Mase Funa (7)
  • CB Trikweze Bridges (7)
  • OL Junior Angilau (3)
  • WR Jurrion Dickey (3)

Out of that group, it was Bridges that surprised me the most. We thought that he would be a starting CB coming into this season, but so far he isn’t getting as much run as I expected. I also thought we might see more of Dickey in this blowout game, but he only got into the game on the final drive of the game.

Contrarily, we saw a lot more of Kris Hutson than I thought we would. Hutson played a total of 10 snaps, which was his first usage so far this season. There was an idea that he may be redshirting with eyes on the transfer portal after this season — something that could still happen — but I’m curious why he waits until this game to play, rather than Week 1 vs. Portland State.

As far as the “No Snap” group, I’m surprised we didn’t see the likes of Khamari Terrell and Tyler Turner. Those are two guys who we’ve heard good things about during fall camp, so it seems like this would have been a good opportunity for them to get some game experience.
