Real ID deadline approaches, Nevada DMV to offer walk in services

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – DMV offices are getting busier ahead of a key date for a requirement to travel.

Starting on May 7th, you must have a real ID to go through TSA checkpoints at airports, unless you have a passport.

That means in Nevada, you need to have a gold state outline on your driver’s license or ID.

If you don’t have it, the DMV says you need to go to an office to upgrade it before the next time you fly.

You can’t upgrade your license online, and you must bring a proof of identity, social security, and Nevada residency.

The DMV is offering walk in services starting next week. On Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 4 p.m. at Las Vegas area offices to help customers get this done. Customers at rural DMV offices can walk in any day.
