Scary Time in NW Montana: Enormous Avalanche Conditions

It’s been one of the most challenging winters in Montana for avalanche conditions. Weak early snowpack in several parts of Montana started off the season with a terrible base. Warm conditions, then large snow dumps haven’t made for a stable back country experience for most of the season.

At the request of Flathead Avalanche Center Hungry Horse, Montana:
AN AVALANCHE WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED BY THE FLATHEAD AVALANCHE CENTER.
The Flathead Avalanche Center in Hungry Horse has issued a BACKCOUNTRY AVALANCHE WARNING for the following areas:
NWS Missoula MT – MTC 029 (Flathead County)…MTC 047 (Lake County)…MTC 053 (Lincoln County)
WHAT…Prolonged warm, sunny weather is creating very dangerous avalanche conditions.
WHERE…On and below steep slopes above 5000 feet in the Flathead, Whitefish, and Swan Ranges, and portions of Glacier National Park (the McDonald Valley and areas bordering US Highway 2 west of Marias Pass).
WHEN…In effect from Monday 06:00 Tuesday 06:00.
IMPACTS…Natural and triggered avalanches involving wet snow are very likely on both sunny and shady slopes. Hard slabs failing on deeply buried weak layers are likely.
Overhanging cornices can break spontaneously, triggering large to very large avalanches on the slopes below.
PRECAUTIONARY / PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended in the Whitefish, Swan, and Flathead Ranges, as well as Glacier National Park.

Similar avalanche danger may exist at locations outside the coverage area of this or any avalanche center.

‘Hannah Montana’ Vinyl Returns to Charts Following 20th Anniversary Special

Hannah Montana celebrated its 20th anniversary this week with a brand new special on Disney+ that reunited Miley Cyrus and company for a look back at the nostalgic Disney Channel series. While the special unveiled plenty of surprises (including a new song and celebrity cameos), the buzz over Hannah‘s anniversary has also led to a surge of new interest in the show’s popular soundtrack.

Hannah Montana spawned five studio albums, including a soundtrack for Hannah Montana: The Movie. It also led to Best of Both Worlds Concert, a live album that featured Cyrus performing both in character as Hannah and under her own name. All of the albums were originally released on CD, though vinyl pressings of each release came later as well. Best Of Hannah Montana [Clear LP]

New Montana license plate supports Kalispell pee wee baseball

KALISPELL, Mont. — A new Montana license plate is now available at the Kalispell DMV to help support pee wee baseball.

Each plate can be purchased for $30 and will help to boost off season revenue.

The baseball plate was designed by Alexandra Sheneman who helped pitch design ideas to the board.

Proceeds will benefit the youth baseball program by funding new equipment and maintenance upgrades at the Kidsports Complex.

That includes bats, baseballs, nets, and new concrete.

Leftover funding will help families afford the baseball program.

“Once that number starts going up, it will generate some sponsorship funding so that we can help families that need support that can’t afford it,” said Kalispell pee wee baseball president Andy Wilson.

This is a great way to step up to the plate and help keep the youth baseball program strong for future seasons.
