Williams wins Icebreaker golf tournament, Gooding softball dominates; Wednesday Idaho prep spring scores


TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A fun night Wednesday in and around the Magic Valley, as softball and golf led the headlines.

Twin Falls (4-1) 10, Jerome (0-1) 0

2A/3A

Gooding (1-0) 15, Declo (0-2) 2

The Senators were crushing the softball, combining for six home runs.

Treasure Valley CC signee Dominixe Celaya had two homers and six RBIs in the win.

Fayth Gillette and Mady Morris also had two home runs each.

Bismarck State signee Kathryn Sliman got the win for the Senators, striking out 11 batters.

Golf

The Kimberly boys golf team traveled to River Bend for the Icebreaker Tournament hosted by Homedale.

Freshman Wyatt Williams won the tournament shooting a 75, winning by five strokes.

The boys team ended up 4th out of 13 teams.

Claremont Fire evacuation zones drop to Level 1 as crews work to clear spot fire


FOOTHILLS, Idaho — Areas near the Claremont Fire have been reduced to Level 1 evacuation status, the Boise County Sheriff’s Office updated on Facebook.

“Most of the unburned fuel near the spot fire has been consumed. There may be a pocket or two of unburned fuel that will need to be monitored tomorrow [July 11] afternoon,” BCSO says in an 8:40 p.m. update.
