Lewiston structure fire causes $50,000 in damages Christmas morning

LEWISTON – The Lewiston Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 3110 9th Street at 10:15 a.m. Christmas morning. First arriving crews found heavy smoke coming from the front door and fire from a window at the rear of the building.

Crews knocked down the fire in about 15 minutes but remained on the scene for 3 hours to finish the overhaul by removing the metal roof and exposing burning material underneath.

The department responded with three structural engines, three ambulances, 2 chief officers, and 1 fire inspector, totaling 18 personnel. Wheatland Fire Department also responded for mutual aid with 4 personnel. There were no citizen or firefighter injuries.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The estimated damage to the structure and contents is $50,000.
