Winds push fire to within 8 miles of Alaska Native community

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Excessive winds have pushed a wildfire to inside miles of a village in western Alaska.
Fireplace officers say there have been no evacuation orders issued for St. Mary’s although the East Fork Fireplace was inside 8 miles.
No buildings have been burned. The 78-square-mile hearth was began Could 31 by lightning.
The hearth jumped the Andreafsky River on Tuesday. Within the final week, winds blowing south down the river drainage have resulted in vital hearth development.
The hearth is burning tundra, brush and pockets of black spruce timber.
Fireplace officers anticipated cooler climate arriving Friday, however winds are anticipated to persist.
