Caught on video: Man carjacks 81-year-old woman who was feeding homeless people in Redlands

A person has been arrested after allegedly carjacking an 81-year-old lady who was feeding homeless folks in Redlands, police stated Thursday.

The incident was reported about 3:30 p.m. Monday within the parking zone of a Stater Bros retailer at 11 E. Colton Ave.

The sufferer of the carjacking informed police she had been within the parking zone to supply meals to homeless folks within the space.

Whereas she was handing out meals from the open trunk, the suspect allegedly forcefully took the keys from her and bought into the motive force’s seat of her automobile, police stated.

Video launched by police confirmed the sufferer tried to open the door of the automobile after the suspect had gotten in, however she was not capable of.

The suspect then allegedly drove off whereas the sufferer was nonetheless holding onto the motive force’s door and she or he was knocked to the bottom.

The motive force was recognized as 24-year-old Roberto Carlos Sanchez Jr. and he was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a stolen automobile, police stated.

Redlands police then headed to Los Angeles for the investigation and confirmed that Sanchez was concerned in a carjacking on the parking zone in Redlands.

He was transported to West Valley Detention Heart in San Bernardino the place he’s being held on suspicion of carjacking and elder abuse. His bail was set at $250,000.
