Army officials to face House grilling on training slides that designated pro-life groups as terrorists

EXCLUSIVE — House Republicans will bring in Army officials to testify at a hearing next week on a training presentation that referred to pro-life groups as terrorists, Fox News Digital has learned.
The House Armed Services Committee’s Subcommittee on Military Personnel will hear Thursday afternoon from Agnes Schaefer, assistant secretary of the Army for manpower and Reserve affairs, and Lt. Gen. Patrick Matlock, Army deputy chief of staff.
Republicans led by Armed Services Chairman Mike Rogers, R-Ala., and Subcommittee Chairman Jim Banks, R-Ind., wrote a letter to Army Secretary Christine Wormuth demanding information about the slide deck.
The Army recently wrote back, admitting that the slides “inaccurately referenced” pro-life groups like Right to Life and Operation Rescue, and a slew of pro-animal and green groups like PETA, as “terrorist organizations.”

Schaefer wrote that the training deck, which was used to teach 9,100 Army soldiers at Fort Liberty, North Carolina, between 2017 and 2024, was “inconsistent with Army’s antiterrorism policy and training.”
She said the slides had not been reviewed by Fort Liberty leadership and are no longer in use. Schaefer added there is “no evidence” to suggest the individual who created the slide deck did so to “deliberately subvert” Army policy or to “further a personal viewpoint.”
The slides were used to conduct terror awareness training for soldiers assigned to guarding the gates at Fort Liberty. Schaefer said the slides were not shared outside of Fort Liberty.

The Republican letter in July said the slides indicated members of pro-life organizations could be threats to the safety of military installations and that regalia of such groups, like a pro-life license plate, could potentially indicate terrorism.
Officials at the Fayetteville, North Carolina, garrison said the person using the slides remains employed at the facility.

“It’s downright ridiculous to claim the slide deck doesn’t ‘further a personal viewpoint,’ but there have been no consequences for the employee who ran anti-life training sessions at Fort Liberty that clearly violated Army policy,” Banks told Fox News Digital.
Rogers said the hearing will be held “to get answers on how this occurred and ensure it never happens again.”
In June, the Army revised some of its policies, with Wormuth announcing that “active participation in extremist activities can be prohibited even in some circumstances in which such activities would be constitutionally protected in a civilian setting.”
Service members are now prohibited from liking, sharing or engaging with content supporting extremism, according to the American Legion.

Americans mock Democrats' $20M study to figure out 'what's wrong' with men

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
ATLANTA– What’s wrong with American men? This is what Democrats are asking after struggling with male voters in the 2024 presidential election. Fox News Digital got reactions from Americans near Atlanta about this and if they believe there’s a real problem with the guys.
Overall, most people interviewed found the plan to spend $20 million on studying American men laughable.
“I think it’s dumb,” said Patrice from Atlanta.
Miriam, also from Atlanta, said, “I think there’s better places to put that money.”
“I think they’re just going to flush our money down the toilet,” said Miguel from Colorado.
On the study, Dave from Tennessee said, “I would say they’re not going to learn much.”
Aaron from Dallas, Georgia asked, “What do they [Democrats] consider to be men?”
DEMOCRATIC PARTY SCRAMBLES TO FIX IMAGE AS MEMBERS ACKNOWLEDGE PARTY ‘LOST CREDIBILITY’
“I don’t know why you have to spend money to study men,” said another.
“If they can figure out what a man is first, that’d be pretty sick, but I don’t think that’s gonna happen,” said Ethan from Ringgold, Georgia.
When asked if there is something wrong with American men, Evelyn from Tennessee said, “I mean, there’s things wrong with everyone.”
“I think it’s true that there’s maybe some conversation to be opened up about what American men need and maybe some improvements that could be made for men and women as a whole,” said Sarah from Woodstock, Georgia.
Ethan said, “about half of them yeah…” and whispered, “Democrats,” into the microphone.
Several struggled to answer who they believed was the manliest Democrat.
“I can’t think of any to be honest,” said Miguel.
“Oh, I don’t know,” said Evelyn from Tennessee.
A few were able to provide examples.
Patrice said, “Barack Obama.”

Ethan said, “Andrew Jackson.”
“Speaking with American Men: A Strategic Plan” is a $20 million project crafted by Democrats to “study the syntax, language and content that gains attention and virality in these spaces” of male voters, the Times reported in May.
Known as “SAM,” the study will specifically examine young male voters and how the party can connect with the demographic. Additionally, the study advised rolling out pro-Democrat ads in video games.
The study’s revelation was made in an overarching article detailing the uphill battle Democrats face after the 2024 election, which included Democrats scrambling to replace former President Joe Biden as the nominee with just more than 100 days left in the election cycle and ultimately delivering all seven battleground states to President Donald Trump.
Trump made big in-roads with the male vote during the 2024 election cycle. A Fox News Voter Survey published in November 2024 found that men aged 18–44 supported Trump at 53%, compared to former Vice President Kamala Harris’ 45%.
While The Associated Press found that more than half of male voters under the age of 30 voted for Trump instead of Harris — including roughly six-in-10 White male voters supporting Trump — about one-third of Black male voters supported Trump, as did about 50% of young Latino male voters.
Trump’s support among young Black and Latino male voters jumped by about 20% compared to his 2020 support, the AP reported.

Trump's DOJ pressuring University of Virginia to axe its president over DEI programs: report

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
The Trump administration has privately urged the University of Virginia to remove its president to help resolve a Justice Department probe into the institution’s diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, according to a report.
The Justice Department has argued that the university’s president, James E. Ryan, has not dismantled its diversity, equity and inclusion programs and misrepresented the steps taken to eliminate them, amid the administration’s efforts to root out DEI in higher education, The New York Times reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
Fox News Digital has reached out to the department, the university and Ryan for comment.

The federal government’s moves targeting higher education include pulling billions of dollars from elite universities such as Harvard, which has been the subject of investigations by at least six different federal agencies over issues such as DEI initiatives, admissions practices and alleged antisemitism on campus.
But this would be the first time the administration has pressured a university to remove its president.
The call for Ryan’s removal was made over the past month in several instances to university officials by Gregory Brown, the deputy assistant attorney general for civil rights, according to The New York Times.
Brown, a University of Virginia graduate, has been instrumental in the investigation. He told a university representative last week that Ryan needed to go so that an investigation could begin, the outlet reported.

The Justice Department’s top civil rights lawyer, Harmeet K. Dhillon, who earned her law degree from the University of Virginia at the same time as Ryan, has also been involved in negotiations with the university, according to The Times.
Ryan, who was hired as the university’s president in 2018, has focused on increasing diversity at the school, bringing in more first-generation students and encouraging community service, The Times noted. These efforts have ruffled the feathers of conservative alumni and Republican board members who argue he is “too woke” and wants to impose his beliefs on students.
Before his time as the university’s president, Ryan served as the dean of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where he received recognition for his commitment to DEI programs.

Conservative groups have lambasted Ryan for what they regard as insufficient steps toward compliance with the administration.
America First Legal, a nonprofit launched by Trump advisor Stephen Miller, accused the University of Virginia last month of running rebranded DEI programs to skirt Trump’s orders.
“Rebranding discrimination does not make it legal, and changing a label doesn’t change the substance,” Megan Redshaw, an attorney at America First Legal, said in a statement at the time. “UVA’s use of sanitized language and recycled job titles is a deliberate attempt to sidestep the law.”
Fox News Digital has reached out to the White House for comment on demands that the university oust Ryan.

GOP rep speaks out after being forced to evacuate offices over threats from pro-abortion activists

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
Rep. Kat Cammack, R-Fla., is speaking out about the death threats she’s received from pro-abortion activists after publicly sharing her experience with a life-threatening ectopic pregnancy — an ordeal that ultimately led to the evacuation of her offices.
Cammack told “Fox & Friends First” on Friday that she was targeted by pro-abortion activists after sharing her life-threatening ectopic pregnancy story with The Wall Street Journal.
Last May, the Florida congresswoman found herself in a frightening position when her doctors were hesitant to treat her possibly fatal pregnancy complication due to the state’s near-total abortion ban.
REPUBLICAN CONGRESSWOMAN’S OFFICE EVACUATED AFTER PRO-ABORTION ACTIVISTS SEND CHILLING THREATS
“It took about 10 days to discover exactly what was going on. Doctors originally thought that I was just miscarrying, and then they discovered a very rare ectopic — actually one of the rarest and most dangerous types of ectopic pregnancies you can have,” she said.
Cammack detailed the death threats she received after sharing her experience with an ectopic pregnancy on “Fox & Friends First” on Friday.
Cammack noted that while Florida’s abortion laws have exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother, her doctors were still hesitant to provide her with life-saving care because they were scared they would face losing their license or even being sent to prison.
“I literally was lying on the table reading them the law, and it dawned on me as I was sitting there with my husband — this is what women are experiencing because of the fearmongering around women’s healthcare, and it has to stop,” she asserted, adding, “The left absolutely played a role in making sure that doctors and women were scared to seek out the help that they needed.”
Following the publication of her story in The Wall Street Journal on Sunday, Cammack began receiving death threats from pro-abortion activists, leading to the evacuation of her offices.

Cammack said that she’s received “thousands of threatening phone calls” and more than three dozen “actionable, credible” death threats since sharing her story.
“Things that are so horrible, like ‘I’m going to come cut out your unborn child and roast it over a fire.’ Things that I can’t say on air,” the congresswoman recalled.
“What is really, really scary is the vitriol and the fact that people don’t even want to look into the details or take accountability for their actions,” she said.
According to Cammack, the most important lesson she’s taken away from her traumatic experience is that there’s not only a “literacy crisis” unfolding in the country, but also a basic lack of understanding of “what healthcare for women is,” adding that “ectopic pregnancies are not abortions.”
