Mary Roush ushered in a brand new period at West Virginia College Friday (April 22) as she takes over because the Mountaineer Mascot from Colson Glover, who ended his time period throughout the conventional passing of the rifle ceremony on the Erickson Alumni Heart.
The youngest Mountaineer and third girl to carry the title, Roush is a freshman public relations main and sports activities communications minor from Mason. She was named the mascot throughout the March 5 males’s WVU vs. TCU basketball sport. Her first official look as Mountaineer might be on the Gold-Blue Spring Soccer Sport Saturday (April 23) at 1 p.m. at Milan Puskar Stadium.
“I can not put into phrases how a lot it means to me to symbolize the state and College I like,” Roush stated. “I’m thrilled to start my time period and lead Mountaineers, wherever they might be, to consider in themselves and the elemental values of what it means to be a Mountaineer and West Virginian. It’s a true honor and privilege to function our 68th Mountaineer Mascot.”
Glover, a senior neuroscience main, stated that despite the fact that he has donned the buckskins for the final time, the reminiscences of this honor will stay with him for the remainder of his life.
“Each image, handshake, dialog and little one’s smile has left an enduring impression on me that I’ll cherish perpetually,” Glover stated. “Whereas this chapter of my life involves an in depth, I’m excited to see what Mary and others will accomplish within the position. I’m so proud understanding that the purpose I set in the beginning of my time period, of fixing the lives of Mountaineer Nation, might be preserved and carried on for a few years to come back.”
