First Black-Owned Restaurant in Woodley Park Opens

The primary Black-owned restaurant in D.C.’s Woodley Park neighborhood has opened for enterprise.

Flavorture is a brand new soul meals restaurant positioned at 2609 twenty fourth St NW. It opened on Saturday with a ribbon reducing ceremony attended by D.C. leaders, in keeping with a mayor’s workplace launch.

It’s co-owned by Cooks Lew McAlister and Pinkey Reddick. They each ran their very own catering companies earlier than opening the restaurant collectively, the discharge stated.

The opening was supported by a $50,000 grant from the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Financial Growth and a Woodley Park Essential Avenue grant, in keeping with the discharge.
