DC man found guilty of assault after firing shots at ex-girlfriend’s apartment
WASHINGTON (7News) — A 26-year-old D.C. man was found guilty Tuesday of assault with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm in connection with a 2022 shooting, Department of Justice officials said.
According to court evidence, Raekwon Sutton went to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment in 2022 armed with a handgun and – in a fit of rage – fired ten rounds at the front door while two family members were inside.

A few hours before the shooting, evidence shows Sutton sent multiple texts and voice messages threatening to shoot at the apartment.
Shortly after the shooting, evidence shows Sutton sent additional messages threatening to return to the apartment and fire more shots.
Sutton’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for December 1, 2023.
