T’yana Todd, Boston College women’s basketball start ACC schedule hot with rout at Virginia – The Boston Globe

The Boston College women’s basketball team ended a three-game losing streak and got its Atlantic Coast Conference schedule off to a winning note, romping in a 72-57 victory at Virginia on Sunday.

T’yana Todd scored a season high 21 points off the bench for the Eagles (7-4, 1-0), who hadn’t won their conference opener since 2016-17. The junior guard dominated the opening quarter, scoring 14 of BC’s 22 points as the visitors never trailed in Charlottesville — a place the Eagles had won just once in 12 tries before Sunday.

Up, 22-17, after one, BC steadily built its lead to 39-24 late in the second, its defense allowing just 11 points in the quarter and holding Virginia (6-5, 0-1) scoreless for 3:48. It was 48-30 with 6:29 to go in the third, and the Cavaliers never got closer than 11 points the rest of the way.

BC finished with 29 points off a season-worst 22 Virginia turnovers.

Teya Sidberry scored 12 for the Eagles, with a team-best 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Andrea Daley also scored 12, with 3 assists and 3 rebounds.

Latasha Lattimore had a game-high 23 points and nine rebounds for Virginia, which has lost four straight.

Boston College returns home to face UMass at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Conte Forum. A win would be coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee’s 100th at BC.

I refuse to believe any Mountaineers fans saw that video, heard the song and then didn’t reflexively raise a beer (even if they didn’t realize they were drinking one and say, “Hell yeah, brother.”)

We’ll see if the sort of thing translates onto the field, but even if it doesn’t, I feel like there’s money to be made making appearances and lighting furniture on fire at frat parties.

Crews put out house fire in Bristol, Virginia

BRISTOL, Va. (WCYB) — Crews put out a house fire in Bristol, Virginia, on Wednesday morning, according to officials.

The Bristol, Virginia Fire Department was dispatched at 3:09 a.m. for the fire in the 900 block of Vermont Avenue. The house was unoccupied at the time fire crews arrived on the scene.

Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames in the front of the house. They were able to quickly extinguish the fire under challenging conditions. The fire scene remains active and an investigation is underway. No injuries have been reported.
