West Virginia high school football is back and so begins our Player of the Week polls for the state. Teams showcased more of what they’ve got heading into Week 9 of the regular season.

As such, we have 10 athletes nominated this week for the SBLive’s West Virginia Football Player of the Week award from October 31-Nov. 2, and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. 

The freshman quarterback had a strong outing in Pendleton County’s 41-40 win over Moorefield, completing 17-of-30 passes for 295 yards and five touchdowns.

Voting closes at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17. The winner will be announced in the following week’s poll. Here are this week’s nominees: 

No running back was putting up the kind of numbers Wack was in last week’s 35-30 win over Wheeling Park. Wack rushed for 302 yards on 32 carries and scored four touchdowns.

Barker has one of the biggest passing nights of any passer last week, with the quarterback completing 24-of-40 passes for 347 yards and six touchdowns in a 48-47wn over Parkersburg South.

Koroneos led the way in Wheeling Central Catholic’s 48-7 shellacking of Shady Spring, rushing for 150 yards on just six carries and scoring two touchdowns.

The Oak Glen running back went off in a 44-0 victory over Tygarts Valley, rushing for a game-high 202 yards and scoring three touchdowns.

Marks was on point in Tucker County’s 60-21 victory over Hamshire last week, completing 10-of-15 passes for 177 yards and five touchdowns.

Another offensive player from Tucker County that had a huge night was Reall, who rushed for a game-high 274 yards and scored a touchdown.

The Nitro quarterback went off in the team’s 68-20 victory over Greenbrier East, with Moody throwing for 338 yards and four touchdowns.

In Cameron’s 40-13 victory over Pendleton County, Wallace rushed for a game-high 155 yards on 27 carries and three touchdowns.

Despite coming in a losing effort to Princeton, Bartley rushed for a game-high 237 yards and scored six touchdowns.

The sophomore running back had himself a night in a 61-18 win over Gilmer County, rushing for 231 yards and scoring five touchdowns.

The West Virginia high school football playoffs are officially on hold until further notice.

According to a tweet by MetroNews on Tuesday afternoon, WVSSAC Executive Director David Price released a statement that the state playoffs, all four classifications (26 games), are officially postponed until further notice. Down below is Price’s statement:

“We are extremely disappointed to not be having the playoffs this weekend. We understand the frustration from all of the parties involved, and we want nothing more than to put the focus back on the student-athletes and their pursuit of a championship. However, we must abide by the decisions of the courts and their timeline.” – David Price, WVSSAC Executive Director

Last week, the Wood County Board of Education filed a petition for an injunction on Friday against the WVSAAC, challenging the football playoff rating formula used by the association.

The WVSAAC fully expected on Tuesday that more schools will be filing injunctions regarding being removed from the state’s initial football playoff brackets because of disputes with the association’s playoff rating formula. Point Pleasant on Monday evening went became the latest school looking to delay the WVSAAC playoffs.

Wood County’s injunction was upheld and four schools were displaced from the postseason brackets, which have now already seen more legal action taken by school boards which has officially delayed the WVSSAC playoffs.

“Then we would have competing injunctions. We can’t pick and choose which one we are going to follow. That would be up to a higher court to decide that. We would take a look next at what steps to take for that decision to be made. Hopefully it can be done quickly. If not, then we would have to look at possibly postponing or moving back a week or two until that decision is made. Those are all speculation at this point,” Price said via a MetroNews report from last week.

Hampshire, Westside, Point Pleasant and Tolsia were all schools that were removed from the WVSSAC’s playoffs via the new brackets released on Saturday afternoon.

ATLANTA – A Virginia couple on a unique quest to visit every Texas Roadhouse in the country is making stops in metro Atlanta.

 Judy and Mike McNamara embarked on their journey to visit all 600 Texas Roadhouse locations after Judy retired six years ago, planning to travel more. The couple’s love for the restaurant chain inspired them to make this mission a reality.

So far, they’ve dined at 460 Texas Roadhouse locations across 49 states. This week, they plan to stop at the Texas Roadhouse in Douglasville on Thursday and then in Hiram on Friday.
