NRA-ILA | South Carolina: Correcting Record on Support for Constitutional Carry

Published

on

Since 2017, in South Carolina, there have been two Constitutional Carry payments filed and receiving an up or down vote within the state Home of Representatives. These payments are H.3930, from Rep. Pitts in 2017, and H.3096, from Rep. Cox in 2021. These are the one Constitutional Carry payments which have obtained a vote. These vote counts are right here (2017) and right here (2021). Once more, these are the solely two payments that have been heard on the ground and obtained a vote.

Throughout that point, one member of the Legislature has regularly tried to throw motions onto any and all Second Modification payments so as to add Constitutional Carry language. Different teams, with motives aside from supporting Second Modification rights, are calling these movement procedures “votes” on Constitutional Carry. As you may think about, representatives rejected or ignored attaching a movement to connect Constitutional Carry to one thing fully unrelated, such because the movement to adjourn the legislature for the day. Because of these techniques, which can as effectively be sabotage, good laws that might have expanded and guarded Second Modification rights was routinely defeated, till 2021.

Final 12 months, the next representatives voted for Constitutional Carry, and we proceed to thank them for his or her help.
