MYRTLE BEACH, S. C. (WPDE) — Could 1 marks the start of sea turtle nesting season in South Carolina, and officers are reminding the neighborhood and vacationers to go away them alone. Sea turtles are protected underneath the Federal Endangered Species Act of 1973 which fines as much as $15,000. The animals are additionally protected underneath the Marine Turtle Safety Act.
