North Carolina great Eric Montross battling cancer, family says

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The household of former North Carolina and NBA large man Eric Montross says he has begun therapies for most cancers.

Montross’ household issued a press release by means of the varsity on Saturday saying the 51-year-old’s prognosis, although it didn’t specify the character of the most cancers.

“We’re all touched by the responses our whole household has acquired because the information turned public,” the household stated. “Your assist is greater than appreciated; it’s welcomed as a vital a part of beating most cancers sooner or later at a time. Our household is coping with Eric’s prognosis head-on – the one approach we all know how. And we’re all on this battle collectively.”

Montross is a radio analyst for UNC sport broadcasts and works for the Rams Membership, the fundraising arm of UNC’s athletics division.

Montross was a two-time Related Press second-team All-American with the Tar Heels. He was the beginning heart on the late Dean Smith’s second NCAA championship squad in 1993. Montross went on to be the No. 9 total choose within the 1994 NBA draft and performed eight years within the league.
