Missing Stanly County teen found safe, police say

STANLY COUNTY, N.C. — Michele Morton was found safe out-of-state, according to the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies in Stanly County are asking for the public’s help to find a teen last seen at her high school early this morning.

An Amber Alert was issued for Stephanie Michele Morton, 16, on Thursday evening.

The Stanly County Sheriff’s Office said Morton was seen leaving South Stanly High School around 7:30 a.m. with a man they identified as Duane Howard Bartlett. The pair were last seen in a red passenger car.

Morton is described as a white female, who is 5 feet, 4 inches, and weighs about 175 pounds. She has red hair and blue eyes.

Bartlett is a 30-year-old white man, deputies said.

Deputies as anyone with information to call 911.
