WILMINGTON, N.C. — A person wished in reference to an April 1 homicide in McDowell County is now in custody.

Kenneth Stout

Kenneth Stout was arrested by U.S. Marshals Saturday night time in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Stout, who allegedly killed Barbara Baker on Beartown Department Street in McDowell County, initially ran from marshals.

Stout was noticed by an off-duty Hanover County, North Carolina sheriff’s deputy.

“The off-duty deputy sheriff contacted USMS personnel and native regulation enforcement. As regulation enforcement tried to make contact with Stout, he fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit. Stout was taken into custody,” a U.S. Marshal Service information launch stated.

U.S. Marshals stated earlier this week they imagine Stout might be going after spiritual communities performing as a handyman or contractor and asking for monetary help.

Stout is now in jail awaiting extradition to West Virginia.
