He ranks as the nation’s No. 104 DL and the No. 1106 overall prospect for 2024 on the 247Sports Composite ratings. The On3 Industry Ranking has him as the nation’s No. 100 DL and the No. 1055 overall recruit.

Nnamdi Ogboko committed to Georgia football Sunday afternoon on the last day of his official visit.

The North Carolina standout from South Garner High School made it official today and just comes busting through to join the back-to-back national champion Bulldogs.

He told DawgNation that UGA was one of his very top schools coming into the visit.

“I’m feeling good,” he said.

See John Atkins Jr. See Jordan Davis. Kirby Smart’s best defenses have always had a man in the middle like that to anchor the front.

That 3-star ranking also indicates a measure of a very raw prospect that didn’t start playing football until last season.

He kind of just came charging through the banner with his football career last fall, too.

“Nnamdi played his first season last year as a junior and finished with 61 tackles, 17 tackles for losses and four sacks,” South Garner head football coach Greg Greene said. “I’m excited to see what this season holds now that he has a better understanding of what he’s capable of.”

For those that might fret over a 3-star DL that ranks around No. 100 nationally at his position, think about the program that just accepted his commitment today.

If the ‘Dawgs are taking a commitment from a 3-star at any time, he can play. That’s especially true if that commitment comes in the month of June.

He’s now the seventh prospect with a 3-star ranking the ‘Dawgs have taken in this year’s class. Ogboko is the second defensive prospect to commit to the program this week. He joins 6-foot-5, 255-pound DE Quintavius Johnson Jr. out of Mays High in Atlanta.

Georgia line coach Tray Scott has had a great history (Jordan Davis) with 3-star DTs from North Carolina on his resume. Ogboko has what Georgia wants to anchor down that position and they didn’t hesitate to welcome him into the class this weekend.

Ogboko had taken official visits this month to Rutgers, South Carolina and Florida.

This is a family with some strong athletic talent. Not only does Nnamdi Ogboko also play basketball for his high school team but his younger brother also picked up an offer from Georgia earlier this month.

He also contributes on the basketball court for the South Garner High School team.

“Last season I saw Nnamdi do a spin move into a layup in a basketball game,” South Garner football coach Greg Greene said. “You don’t typical see that from a kid [that is] 6-foot-4 and 340 pounds.”
