Towboat crashes into Mississippi River lock and dam near Wabasha, Minn.

A towboat was caught for hours after crashing right into a lock and dam alongside the Mississippi River Saturday evening.

The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Workplace says requires the crash got here in shortly after 11 p.m. Based on the sheriff, a barge was headed south on Pool 4 of the river when the towboat misplaced management close to Lock and Dam 4 and crashed.

Deputies say the barge is owned by the Canal Barge Firm, which seems to be a transportation firm. All crew members had been in a position to get to security after the crash. Deputies say no crew members nor lock and dam staff had been damage.

The towboat was eliminated Sunday morning. There aren’t any leaks because of the crash, which is underneath investigation by the Coast Guard. It is unclear if the lock and dam was broken.
