Ranger-led hike to give insight into north Mississippi battle – WBBJ TV

CORINTH, Miss. — A ranger-led hike is providing insight into an 1862 battle in northern Mississippi.

On August 12, guests will be able to join Ranger Laura Lee McKellips to learn more about the of Davis Bridge and its connection to the Battle of Corinth, according to the National Park Service.

The park says the hike will allow guests to learn about the Union and Confederate actions during the battle on October 5, 1862, while visiting and walking to the various sites involved in the fighting and retreat.

The park says that visitors will meet at the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center and car caravan to Davis Bridge and Metamora Hill with stops along the way.

The parks says the hike at the Davis Bridge site is less than one mile roundtrip over moderate terrain including gravel and dirt. They recommend wearing clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather and hiking into the woods.

You can pre-register by calling the Corinth Interpretive Center at (662) 287-9273 to reserve their spot for the Davis Bridge program.

It will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
