Mississippi Legislature condemns Russia, severs ties

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Legislature filed a decision on Thursday, April 14 that condemns Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and severs ties with the nation.

The decision said that the invasion of Ukraine is a violation of worldwide legislation and the United Nations Constitution, which states that each one members should chorus from the risk or use of power towards the territorial integrity or political independence of any state.

The Mississippi Senate and Home of Representatives condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The decision additionally said that the State of Mississippi will sever all financial and monetary ties with Russia.

The decision prohibits:

  • The sale, buy, distribution and storage of alcoholic drinks from Russia.
  • The funding of Public Staff’ Retirement System property in companies or monetary establishments owned by Russia or its residents.
  • The funding in Russian companies by way of the Mississippi Growth Authority or different publicly financed financial improvement tasks.
  • Using Russian distributors for any companies or items for public entities

The choice was made in Senate Concurrent Decision 563.
