From Mississippi Emergency Management Agency Public Information Office
PEARL, Miss. (WDAM) – A fatality on Mississippi 51 in Panola County brought the state’s winter weather-related deaths to 11 over the past week.
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said the Mississippi Highway Patrol was investigating.
MEMA has been tracking weather-related deaths since Jan. 14, when winter weather first hit Mississippi.
Additional deaths have been reported in Chickasaw, Humphreys, Leflore, Rankin, Sharkey, Sunflower and Washington counties.
Warmer temperat6ures are headed Mississippi’s way, starting Monday, but MEMA still continues to ask caution be the guide when outside.

Residents who need to warm up may seek shelter at a county or city-run warming center in your area. The full list of those shelters and safe rooms is here.
