Following last month’s severe weather in Winston County, the U.S. Small Business Administration has approved Mississippi’s request for assistance for homeowners and small businesses affected.

Governor Tate Reeves made the announcement Friday afternoon, saying many in Winston County experienced economic losses due to flash flooding on July 13.

“These low-interest loans will help support Winston County homeowners and businesses recover from flood damage,” Reeves said. “The state of Mississippi will continue to use every available resource to help those impacted rebuild and recover.”

Home and business owners in Winston County will not be the only ones eligible for physical loans and economic injury disaster loans (EIDLs). Those impacted by the storms in Attala, Choctaw, Kemper, Leake, Neshoba, Noxubee, and Oktibbeha counties can also apply.

The loans, which are intended to assist through the disaster recovery period, can be applied for here. The deadlines are Oct. 10, 2023, for physical loan applications and May 13, 2024, for EIDLs.
