Miami International Boat Show kicks off with ribbon cutting ceremony


MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis is in South Florida Wednesday, where he will speak at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Miami International Boat Show.

The 2025 Discover Boating® Miami International Boat Show® kicks off Wednesday with the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Miami Beach Convention Center, which will feature elected officials, community leaders and industry executives.

The boat show draws thousands of visitors from around the world to Miami Beach each year, generating more than a $1 billion economic impact for the state.

“This marquee event delivers a significant boost to Miami and Miami Beach’s tourism and hospitality industries, welcoming the global boating community for an exciting five-day(s),” a news release from event organizers stated. “This year, the show is proud to partner with the inaugural Miami Beach Cupid Splash as its official charitable partner for the 2025 event.”

The boat show will be held from Wednesday through Sunday at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Pride Park, Herald Plaza, Venetian Marina, Museum Park Marina, and Superyacht Miami at IGY Yacht Haven Grande Miami.

Man transported in critical condition following double shooting in Miami – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports | Fort Lauderdale


MIAMI (WSVN) – Police are investigating a double shooting in a Miami neighborhood that sent one man to the hospital in critical condition.

Units responded to the area of 1740 Northwest 5th Avenue just before 1:00 a.m., Friday in reference to a double shooting.

Upon arrival, units found two males, one possibly grazed by a bullet and the other found with gunshot wounds.

For hours, markers were placed on the ground, and crime tape cornered off the area as police investigated exactly what unfolded.

Miami Fire Rescue crews transported one of the men to Jackson Memorial Hospital Trauma in critical condition.

The incident is still under investigation.
