Maryland, Virginia governor’s call on Department of Justice to provide resources to keep Supreme Court justices and their families safe

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin are calling on Legal professional Common Merrick Garland, asking that the Division of Justice present “sufficient assets” to maintain Supreme Courtroom justices and their households protected following the latest Dobbs v. Jackson draft opinion leak.

Throughout the letter, the governor’s state that demonstrators have been picketing exterior Justices’ houses in Virginia and Maryland.

“Whereas protesting a last opinion from the Supreme Courtroom is commonplace when executed on the steps of the Courtroom or within the public sq., the circumstances of the present picketing on the Justices’ non-public houses in residential neighborhoods are markedly totally different,” the letter reads.

It continues stating that “it’s in your fingers to make sure that relevant federal legislation is enforced to protect the integrity of our American judicial system and the protection of our residents.”
