Northern lights could visit Kentucky

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – A strong geomagnetic storm could cause the northern lights to be viewable as far south as Kentucky tonight. The best chance to view the lights with the naked eye will be north of cities like Kansas City, Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh.

A strong solar storm will allow the northern lights to possibly be viewable in Kentucky.(David Wolter)

Here in Kentucky, if you go outside, especially after 8 PM, get into a very dark area and look north, that is going to put you in the best position. You will, however, need to use your phone and set your camera to “night mode” in order to give yourself the best chance to see the auroras.
