Chris Brazzell being recruited by Kentucky

With the Kentucky Wildcats expected to hire Houston’s Daikiel Shorts Jr. as the next wide receiver’s coach, they’re still in the hunt to land another pass catcher in the transfer portal.

So far, Kentucky has lost two wide receivers to the transfer portal in Dekel Crowdus and Cole Lanter. They’ve also lost Tayvion Robinson to the NFL Draft.

Losing three players so far in the wide receiver room, they’re looking to make several additions. They’ve already added former Texas A&M wide receiver Raymond Cottrell and North Texas wideout Ja’Mori Maclin.

Now, it appears Kentucky is looking to add at least one more player to the mix, as they have reached out to former Tulane wide receiver Chris Brazzell II, according to Hayes Fawcett on Twitter.

Brazzell II is a 6-foot-5, 195-pound wideout who was originally a 3-star recruit in the 2022 class. He only played in two games in his first season while redshirting, grabbing one pass for 11 yards.

This year as a redshirt freshman, he had 44 receptions for 711 yards and five touchdowns.

Kentucky hasn’t been the only one that has reached out to Brazzell, as 37 other schools have reached out and contacted him, including Georgia, Tennessee, Washington, Michigan, Ole Miss, Penn State, Florida, Clemson, and USC, among others.

The recruiting dead period begins on Monday, December 18th, and runs until Thursday, January 11th. Kentucky will have to figure out who they will want to contact once they are able to talk to transfers again, which will start on Friday, January 12th.

Overall, Kentucky has done well with the additions on the offensive side, but the next step is to focus on getting the defense figured out in the next contact period.
