Syracuse football: Fran Brown re-recruits Georgia transfer WR Zeed Haynes
Syracuse Orange football fans have seen Fran Brown’s recruiting skills in action these past two weeks, and now we understand why he puts such a big emphasis on building one-on-one relationships.
Yazeed Haynes, a 6’1”, 170 lbs. wide receiver who played at Georgia last season, will join SU with all four years of eligibility remaining. Haynes was a consensus 4-star prospect out of North Penn high school near Philadelphia, PA – and it was Brown who recruited him for the Dawgs in the first place.
Zeed had 1 catch for 20 yards in UGA’s season opener against UT Martin, also playing on special teams in three other contests. Because he redshirted and didn’t dip into his eligibility, Haynes is someone we could see in Orange for a long time.
The four major recruiting sites all rated him as a top-five prospect out of Pennsylvania in the Class of 2023. He was formerly a Penn State commit before Fran changed his mind and brought him to Athens.
Zeed is not the only Georgia player Brown kept in touch with – Jackson Meeks, another former four-star, is also coming to Central New York in 2024. And by all accounts, Fran is nowhere close to being done.
Haynes was one of four high-profile transfers who came to Syracuse on official visits this weekend. Former Ohio State QB Kyle McCord (another Philly native), Texas A&M Edge Fadil Diggs, and Colorado Linebacker Devin Grant all made their anticipated trips to the Dome. Multiple crystal ball projections have Diggs and his younger brother Fatim, another edge rusher, both committing to SU. Stay tuned…
