Georgia School District OKs Next Superintendent

MACON, Ga. (AP) — A central Georgia college district has discovered its subsequent chief.

The Bibb County Board of Training voted 6-2 on Tuesday to call Dan Anthony Sims because the district’s new superintendent. He’s scheduled to start in his new put up July 1, The Telegraph reported.

The vote for Sims ended a virtually seven-month search to discover a substitute for Curtis Jones, who plans to retire June 30 after seven years with the district.

Sims, of East Level, was considered one of 33 candidates to use for the job. Sims has been an educator for 27 years; serving the final six as an affiliate superintendent for Atlanta Public Colleges.

A contract, wage and advantages weren’t mentioned at Tuesday evening’s assembly. Nonetheless, district spokeswoman Stephanie Hartley stated the tentative plan is to have Sims signal a contract at a daily board assembly later this month.

Sims stated his household will stay in Atlanta whereas his daughter finishes her senior yr.

“She would divorce me if she needed to go away her college,” Sims stated.

Although Sims doesn’t formally begin till July 1, he stated he plans to begin partaking with locals subsequent month. A meet-and-greet with the general public is ready for late June.

In a quick speech after the board voted, Sims stated he would give attention to continuity and thanked Jones for being “an unbelievable companion in transition.”
