Florida-Georgia rivalry revs up with opening of RV City on Tuesday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Monday marks the start of Florida-Georgia week with the Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs facing off Saturday at EverBank Stadium.

This is Jacksonville’s 91st year hosting the rivalry game, which is one of the greatest traditions in college football.

Georgia won last year, and this year’s matchup is a bit uneven. The undefeated ‘Dawgs have had a remarkable run at No. 1 this season while Florida is unranked at 5-2

The Gators are 22-11 vs. Georgia dating back to 1990, but the overall record between the teams depends on who you ask.

Georgia claims 55 total wins, counting one against Florida Agricultural College back in 1904.

This time around, the Gators are the home team, making it the “Florida-Georgia” game.

If you want tickets, get ready to pay. Ticketmaster has some in the upper deck for just over $100, while club seats will run you more than $600.

One of the most iconic parts of the Florida vs. Georgia tradition is the tailgating, highlighted by the annual RV City, which opens at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Spots are already sold out, and entrance is on a first-come, first-served basis. That’s why Jacksonville residents will already see a line of RVs waiting to get into the lot.

If you’re planning to take part in RV City, it’s important to remember, there are no electric or water hook-ups and all campers must exit RV City by noon on Sunday.

The week is full of activities for fans, including the Hall of Fame ceremony on Friday.

This year’s Florida inductees include Cornerback Joe Haden and running back Earnest Graham Jr. For Georgia, inductees are wide receiver Terrence Edwards and former Georgia Coach Mark Richt.

Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, but you’ll want to get there early.

The city is expected to release information about the game, including traffic and safety concerns, at a news conference at 11:30 a.m. Monday.
