The system is expected to move into North Georgia and metro Atlanta Saturday afternoon. Forecasters expect total ice accumulations between a quarter of an inch and one inch, with wind gusts up to 30 mph. Officials with Georgia Emergency Management warn that the strength of this weather system could trigger widespread, multi-day power outages and make travel “impossible” across the northern half of the state.

The biggest impacts may carry into the Monday morning commute, even after the storm begins to move out.

On May 9, 2025, at around 8:50 p.m., an armed burglary was reported to a home on Columbia Avenue, said a release from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. Police said the suspects fled the scene before authorities arrived.

Officials said surveillance footage revealed three masked men, two with firearms, were inside the home. The men are accused of stealing luxury purses before fleeing in a black Kia Sorento.

The BCPO said Lewis and the juvenile were two of the people involved in the burglary with a third suspect still at large.

Lewis has been charged with first-degree home invasion burglary, first-degree use of a juvenile to commit a criminal offense and multiple other weapons offenses. He was taken to DeKalb County Jail pending extradition to Bergen County.

The children were found in the closet unharmed.

They were later picked up by a family member.

Their relationship to the victims was not immediately clear.

Police tracked down the suspect, whose vehicle was still in the victims’ driveway, to a woodline short distance from the home with K9 officers.

He was taken into custody without incident, cops said.
