Sources: Giants’ DeVito expected out vs. Dallas
New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito is expected to be out for Thursday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys because of his forearm injury and Drew Lock is expected to start in his place, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Jordan Raanan.
DeVito is listed as questionable for the Thanksgiving Day game, but a source told ESPN on Wednesday that DeVito was considered a long shot to play.
He did not travel with the team to Dallas on Wednesday as he was undergoing further evaluation, the Giants said. The team, however, said it expected him to travel to Dallas later Wednesday.
DeVito took several big hits in Sunday’s 30-7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was making his first start of the season after the Giants released former starter Daniel Jones late last week.
The Giants turn to Lock after bypassing him following the benching of Jones for DeVito. Lock spent the first 10 weeks as the backup, with DeVito as the third string/emergency quarterback.
Lock has a short week and no real practices to get ready for the matchup of NFC East rivals. He also will be playing behind an offensive line without its starting tackles. Andrew Thomas (foot) is on injured reserve and Jermaine Eluemunor (quad) was ruled out Wednesday.

Local church grapples with roof collapse after winter storm
A Dallas-area church says its future is uncertain after multiple inches of sleet and snow forced its sanctuary to collapse.
Leadership at Kingdom Culture Dallas in Cedar Hill said it happened sometime between Friday night and Tuesday morning.
Senior Leader Sherman Dumas said no one was in the building at the time.
They’d all left following a worship service on Friday night. Tuesday morning, staff found the roof of the sanctuary had given way.
“They FaceTimed me, and I’m like, you got to be kidding me, but it still didn’t hit until I got in the building and actually saw the devastation,” said Dumas.
Dumas said it’s too soon to know what the future holds.
He and his wife expanded their congregation from San Bernardino, California to Cedar Hill back in 2024.
While they hope insurance will make them whole, online fundraisers already raised more than $20,000 to help in the meantime.
“Just kind of overnight, we’re a pop-up mobile church unexpectedly, and so that’s going to take a whole other level of resources to be able to manage this and manage wherever we’re going to be going,” he said.
This Sunday, Kingdom Culture will meet for worship at the neighboring Inspiring Body of Christ Church in Dallas.
They continue to look for a more long-term temporary home.
Even amid the wreckage, Dumas is finding reasons to hope that his congregation will be able to continue serving for years to come.
“If God allowed this to happen, there has to be something good on the other side of this that’s going to bring hope and be able to impact others to let them know that if they’re in a down moment, there’s always a way to be able to triumph over it,” he said.

Shorthanded Mavericks fall to Timberwolves despite second-half push
Julius Randle scored 31 points, Naz Reid added 23 and the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the short-handed Dallas Mavericks 118-105 on Wednesday night.
The Mavericks were without rookie No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg, who sat for left ankle injury management on the first night of a back-to-back. Flagg played the previous three games after an ankle sprain sidelined him for two games.
Klay Thompson sat with left knee soreness for Dallas, which is without 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis due to a hand injury. Star guard Kyrie Irving hasn’t played all season after tearing an ACL last March.
Anthony Edwards scored 20 points for the Timberwolves, who have won consecutive games since a five-game losing streak that is their longest of the season.
P.J. Washington Jr. scored all 21 of his points in the second half for the Mavericks. Naji Marshall had 18 points and Brandon Williams 17.
Randle was 12 of 21 from the field and made all seven of his free throws. He has scored at least 21 points in 11 of his past 12 games against his hometown team.
Dallas’ Max Christie had a four-game streak of 20-point games stopped on a 1-of-8 shooting night, finishing with nine points. He was 7 of 8 free throws, but his teammates were just 19 of 31 from the line as Dallas shot 67% (26 of 39).
The Mavericks, who trailed for all but 26 seconds, had trimmed a 16-point deficit to eight late in the fourth quarter when Reid made a 3-pointer to start a 12-3 run to finish the quarter.
The Dallas deficit was 10 in the fourth quarter when Reid hit a short jumper and another 3 for a 106-91 lead. Reid had eight rebounds and three steals.
