Off-duty Dallas officer shoots at suspects allegedly trying to steal his vehicle in Addison, police say
An off-duty Dallas police officer shot at a group of people allegedly trying to steal his personal vehicle on Sunday afternoon in Addison, officials said.
According to the Addison Police Department, around 2:15 p.m., the off-duty Dallas officer saw a group of people trying to steal his vehicle in a parking lot at 5000 Belt Line Road. He confronted the suspects, “and during the encounter, fired a weapon at the suspects’ vehicle.”
The suspects fled in their vehicle, Addison police said, and it is unknown if any suspects were hit by gunfire.
The investigation is ongoing.
Petar Musa scored his 10th goal of the season, Samuel Sarver scored his first career goal in MLS, and FC Dallas beat the New York Red Bulls 2-0 on Saturday night to snap a four-game winless streak.
Dallas (4-3-4) had lost back-to-back games.
Musa gave Dallas a 1-0 lead in the 54th minute. Ran Binyamin, on the counter-attack, played an entry pass from near the top of the penalty arc to a charging Musa for a sliding first-touch finish from the right corner of the 6-yard box. The 28-year-old Musa went into the game tied with Nashville’s Sam Surridge for most goals in MLS this season.
The Red Bulls (3-5-3) are winless in five straight.
Sarver, the 2025 MLS Next Pro MVP, headed a cross from Logan Farrington into a wide-open net to make it 2-0 in the 88th minute.
Ethan Horvath had four saves for New York.
The Red Bulls had 61% possession, but were outshot 12-7, 6-0 on target.
FC Dallas snapped a four-game winless streak on Saturday when they downed the New York Red Bulls 2-0.

After a heavy rotation last weekend, Quill has made several changes. Petar Musa returns to the lineup following being out last weekend with a minor knock. Logan Farrington is also on the bench.
Osaze Urhoghide, Herman Johansson, Kaick and Joaquín Valiente rotate back into the lineup.
Ramiro is an interesting one at the left wing, which could be an interesting experiment for the veteran midfielder. I wonder if we’re really going to see Ran Binyamin more on the wings, instead.

Who should come off the bench?
Given who all is healthy and available, it seems like we’ll see some rotating in the second half with Cappis, Delgado, and Farrington as good options. Outside of those three, Simmonds and Ibeagha could be additional options late in the game.

If this group is going to turn the corner here on their issues this spring, this is the game to do it. New York has been giving up loads of goals this season, and if the preseason meeting can be considered a preview, Dallas should have no problem figuring out how to put a few on this team.
