Driver arrested after crash through fence at Texas Capitol

AUSTIN, Texas – A driver has been arrested after an SUV crashed via a fence on the Texas State Capitol, authorities mentioned.

Troopers noticed the car drive via the southwestern portion of the fence about 6:40 p.m. Thursday in Austin, in accordance with a press release from Texas Division of Public Security Sgt. Victor Taylor.

The car was then pushed up the south steps of the constructing earlier than it stopped, Taylor mentioned.

“The motive force/sole occupant is in custody. There aren’t any extra identified threats presently,” in accordance with a DPS memo obtained by the Austin-American Statesman.

“The scene is safe and protected for regular exercise,” the memo said.

Taylor mentioned the investigation was ongoing and unspecified expenses have been pending towards the driving force. The motive force was not recognized and no different data was instantly launched.
