After 10 years on Sixth Street, Downtown Austin Gloria’s restaurant closing

The downtown location has been a staple of Sixth Avenue for 10 years, providing reside music and salsa dancing on Saturday nights.

AUSTIN, Texas — Gloria’s Latin Delicacies will shut its Sixth Avenue location in Downtown Austin this coming Monday.

The Salvadorian and Tex-Mex restaurant, with different places in Dallas-Fort Price, Houston and San Antonio, introduced on Might 19 that they’re closing the Downtown Austin location on Might 23.

Property administration didn’t provide a lease renewal for the restaurant and as an alternative has new plans for the area, the homeowners mentioned. Gloria’s has one other location at The Area and the homeowners mentioned they sit up for welcoming their downtown clients there. They famous that the Area spot is just not going wherever.

The downtown location has been a staple of Sixth Avenue for 10 years, providing reside music and salsa dancing on Saturday nights. The proprietor mentioned the Area location would hold that custom alive. The Area location is at 3309 Esperanza Crossing.

“We have had a tremendous 10 years at our Sixth Avenue location,” mentioned founder Gloria Rubio-Fuentes in a press release. “And whereas we’re unhappy to depart Downtown Austin, we’re excited to proceed welcoming all of Austin to our lovely location at The Area.”

Gloria’s began in Dallas when Gloria and Jose Fuentes labored at a small Salvadorian eatery owned by Gloria Rubio-Fuentes’ sister within the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas.
