AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) — A Day of Prayer is coming to Augusta on Saturday, October 25. Faith Walk Ministries is hosting the event at Garrett Elementary’s soccer field on Eisenhower Drive at noon.

Travon Wright says the event is meant to unite the community. “It’s time for believers to actually be more vocal in what we can do for our country, our community, and our local government,” he said. “We are gonna be praying for our nation, our government, our school systems, just to get a sense of urgency about what we can do for our community to help unite our community.”

Everyone is welcome to participate. “Everyone. Every walk, every church, every leader, non-leader, believer, non-believer,” Wright said.

The event will include prayer, worship, and food trucks. Wright added, “It is just gonna be an awesome time, man. I have worship out there. I’m just expecting for the Lord to move out there.”

Tickets are free, but people can attend without one. Wright says about 250 tickets have already been claimed. More information is available at faithwalk-ministries.org.

Wright also announced a concert on November 2 with Tye Tribbett. Tickets are available at Etix.com or through the Miller Theater website with promo code Praise 2025 for a 25% discount.

“This is the first Day of Prayer,” Wright said. “I’m just coming with great expectations.”

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – People in Augusta came together to clean up parts of the city on Saturday.

City Serve Augusta is an organization that’s been around for about 10 years.

It puts projects in motion to help beautify Augusta, and there were six projects to choose from on Saturday.

For example, painting over graffiti in the Saint Sebastian tunnel to cutting back bushes around the nature walk.

The director of City Serve spoke about what makes this community service so important.

“It’s always exciting work to be out in the community. You always meet a lot of people that you might not have met before who come out and volunteer. You also get to see a lot of people who love our city, and get to love all the things about our city,” said Luke Niday.

Augusta mayor Garnett Johnson took part in the clean-up.

He said it takes a village to keep a city clean, and he doesn’t mind joining in to help.

“It brings a sense of community for our area, especially on a fall weekend like today, where there’s so many events going on and there’s so many other places a lot of these volunteers can be. But to be here today putting on gloves, doing heavy lifting, doing dirty work to clean up this city, and so that others can truly enjoy it is truly, truly heartwarming,” said Johnson.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – It’s a big night over at the Georgia-Carolina State Fair on Hale Street in Augusta.

This year is the 101st time the Augusta Exchange Club is hosting the event. It’s at 4th and Hale Street.

You can get your favorite fair food, shop at vendor stands and have fun on new rides and the classic ones like the pirate ship.

Gates open at 5 p.m., tonight, and will go until 11 p.m. Saturday and Sundays open from Noon to 11 p.m.

Admission is $10. Children 5 and under get in for free. You can ride unlimited rides for $30.

The event last until October 26th.
